Evaluation and Final Images

For my final prints I decided to choose two images from both environments, as a way to indicate that life decisions became a constant feature in everything we do. I particulary like the Ice skating images as I feel it empathises the idea of moving on more effectively. I tried to link the nature of skating to the nature of change. Indicating that everyone starts off all together in the same boat. Then suddenly gaps appear. People gradually  start to break away. Some race ahead, others maintain a relatively steady pace then the remainder of the group loiter on behind, clining to the edges. I feel that this demonstrates how human beings deal with the concept of change and the diversity within each of us determines how we embrace it. There are certain individauls that have a clear and coherent plan, whilst some have fairly structured intentions but are open to opportunities that may not of been considered beforehand and then there are others that fall into this realm of uncertainty, hesistant to the thought of change and not knowing where they want their life to take them. I could very easily put myself into all three of those catergories. I've noticed that I have reached a stage in my life where I am faced with options appearing from all angles, constantly contemplating on whether the choices I'm faced with are the right ones best suited for me. It has become more apparant in relation to the people that I've grown very closed to other the years as they have also made consciensous decisions. We are all branching out, going off in different directions, paralell to each other. It does appear to me at times that everyone has moved on and I'm stuck in one place but that is indeed not so, I myself am going down a path, setting off on my own individual adventure to find my place in the world. This inveitabble occurrence does fascinate me, these decisions we make are powerful unchangable propsals, it determines what becomes of us, the people we meet and how our lives pan out. The past is something that we either hold dear in our hearts, or wash our hands of. The present is the time we use to reflect what has happened and prepare for what could occur, the future the final layer that is yet to be built.

I'd refer to my street images as a depiction of a memory/flash back from the past. Taking in a lot of inspiration from Bill Jacobson, I was interested in exploring and documenting the impact change can have before it has even begun. When a dramatic change occurs, what ever the circumstances are, one thing that is for certain is people will inevitably drift in and out of your life.  We establish ourselves with others who are heading in the same direction, forming friendships and relationships throughout all stages of our existence. The faces we see on a regular basis are undoubtedly missed and become memorable figures in our minds when a shift in the everyday pattern emerges. People are often reluctant to accept this change and separation from close friends as it marks the end of a era that you have shared. I have said goodbye many a times to individuals that I've grown close to as our lives unfold, setting us on all on different journeys. The distance that's created dilutes the rapport associated with these people. However this pinning feeling becomes transient as one adapts to the changes. From the decisions I have made I've encountered people I would not of had the pleasure of meeting if I had followed a different route. Its transporting me to another destination, molding another chapter in my life.
I find it interesting how the future alters the fate of relationships and friendships, its unpredictable to say the least and whatever seems happen, we all universally reminisce about the past. So no matter what the future entails, we can always activate our most valued memories of the past in our minds, which is what I wanted to portray with these images.
